Mother's Day No. 1

Hello all!  It's been a while since I've been at papercrafting.  During March, our family has ALL THE BIRTHDAYS, my husband had finals week for that quarter of grad school, followed by an early Easter, Spring Break for my son, and so on.  But, grad school for Nathan is nearly over (he finishes in June!!!!) and other things have calmed down now.  So, of course with just a smidge of breathing space, I apparently thought it was a great time to dive into something new!

I decided to become an A Muse Studio Creative Consultant.  Before the shop moved, it just didn't make sense for me to go that route since I could get all I needed in a quick 10 min drive.  But now that the shop has moved, I miss it!  And I miss classes with all my crafty ladies SO much!  Since I make all my things with about 90% of A Muse things anyways, this seems like a good fit!  I'm so glad Chris Franco reached out to me about it.  I probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger without her, even though it had been something I'd been pondering since December.  If you need any papercrafting supplies, take a gander through my webstore!  There's stuff for DIY party decorations and scrapbooking too!

This is my first Mother's Day card for the year.  I used this fun spring floral border stamp and embossed it in white, then used my Peerless watercolors to add washes of color to it.  The background has the very faintest blue hue to it for the sky.  I also added a little sparkle to the butterflies and flowers with a Wink of Stella pen.  Though sadly, I can't quite see it in the photos.  I added a little scallop border trim to the bottom edge and used a stitched tag die for the sentiment banner.  The banner is actually two layers, kraft and vellum.  I love the look of vellum over another thing.  It softens things so nicely.  But in the past, I've struggled with how to attach the vellum to the bottom layer so that you don't see whatever adhesive is used.  I figured it out this time though and I feel brilliant!  (or silly for not figuring it out sooner)  I used my Xyron Create-A-Sticker and you can't see it at all!  HA!  Take that!  The inside says "May your dreams take flight"
